Downward Dog! How To Deal With A Dog Who Jumps Up edition by Mike Deathe Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks

This book is about how to teach your dog not to jump up on people but without focusing on JUMPING UP. Rather we focus on teaching what we want Fido to do instead of the JUMP! It is a funner, easier and more humane way to interact with your dog. Remember Ignore the Bad and Reward the Good or as I like to call it Keep it Simple Stupid!

I bought this book last night and really did finish it in an hour, but I feel like I got a huge amount of information! I have 2 dogs, one is a jumper, one is not; one is treat motivated and high energy; one is not really motivate by anything and is low energy(in fact she is just stubborn as an ox!). So training has been hard and honestly, it fizzled out. But this book has re-energized me and given me a plan for my dear Grady (the jumper). Mike described step by step what Grady is doing now, and how I can help Grady change that behavior with consistent and frequent training. It really is a road map! And a reminder that the onus is on ME not Grady- success depends on my behavior! So if I decide to watch tv instead of work on training then Grady is going to be less successful ;). But Mike also reminded me that training can be FUN, he gives us games to play to solidify the skills. I recommend this book to all dog owners, novice and skilled, especially if you're having trouble changing a behavior like jumping. Great book!Product details

Downward Dog! How To Deal With A Dog Who Jumps Up edition by Mike Deathe Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
Mike has an uncanny ability to simplify the onius task of training your dogs into relatable reminders and easy to follow steps. His theme is, the only way to change an unwanted behavior into a wanted behavior is with consistency and through frequent training. Its a great tool for all pet parents as a reminder that the success of you dog all depends on your behavior and commitment. It really can be that simple and Mike’s books are a great tool to guide you! I am the director of 2 area animal shelters in Kansas City and we sell his books in our retail stores as a resource to new pet parents and are thrilled with the partnership!
Easy to follow guide to get your dog to stop jumping up. The tools and techniques are simple, but work! We've been lucky to experience Mike's training in person and his common sense approach had been a life saver.
Mike writes exactly the way he teaches his classes - in plain language. Everything is easy to understand. You have to be patient and consistent and Mike mentions that. Our dog knows the basics but this book is a good reference for how to build on what she knows.
I have been applying the techniques described in this book for about two weeks with measurable improvement. My jumper is not perfect but it is a work in progress. I obtained practical advice that a busy family can jointly apply. Items such as hand feeding and long leashes were new concepts to me as I've been searching for a solution for a long time. I recommend giving this book a try.
Great book, makes it simple and easy for someone to help deal with a dog that has some of these tendencies and behaviors. One of the best things about Mike and his way of teaching, we've read his books and have hired him personally, is that he makes it very easy to understand what one needs to do to help with behavior modification. I love that he told us, i'm really here to help train you guys, not the dog. It all starts with us. Great job Mike, love the work you do and your teaching methods.
Quick read packed with great training instructions. Anxious to try them on some of the shelter dogs I work with.
We find Mike's process of "training our dogs" --- as he says, actually training the people, is very effective. We have gotten lax on some interactions with our girls and when I saw the book mentioned on Facebook I promptly downloaded the kindle version and read the book immediately!! It's been a great refresher course for us. We highly recommend Mike's techniques and we've seen him in action with our girls early on. He's the real deal!! Thanks, Mike!!
